We originally designed our Elemental raised container because a friend’s father, who is in his 80’s, can no longer bend down to tend to his veggie patch. She approached us to come up with a design that will enable him to garden without it being uncomfortable. The end result is surprisingly decorative, practical and aromatic. The cedar wood coupled with fragrant herbs is gorgeous. I love the storage space for gardening tools and best of all I love how it looks when combined with other decor items like an old bird cage, ginger jar, Willow Pattern pot and greyish basket.
For me, garden design is like interior design décor. It’s about creating a scene; colour, texture and form combine to create an ambiance. It’s about the containers you choose, the colours you mix, perfume, and compatibility.
We named the piece Elemental because it’s straight forward, simplistic and rudimental.
