Allure

An elixir of pastels shades; lavendar rose, peaches and cream, mint, blush and vanilla.

Potager boxes in Plascon graphite black. Jake in black.  A wonderful mix of edible pansies with rocket, pok choi, kale, green lettuce, corriander, bush contender beans, perenial basil and rose scented geranium.

The simplicity of white

White flowers in my garden.... Portulaca, Dietes grandiflora, iceberg roses, Inca lilies, viburnum tinus  and white bougainvillea. All beautiful. All dainty. All startling.

It's Red Hot

I went to a Valentine’s Party last Saturday night with a friend, Reeve. Both of us love to dress up and Reeve vaguely recalled the invitation telling us to dress in Red Hot clothing – so of course the two of us went full tilt. He as a devil complete with blinking neon horns, a red punk wig, and black, white and red face paint, and I, as a medieval maiden dressed in full-on scarlet. I didn’t feel disguised enough, so I went one step further and painted my entire face an unattractive red.

When we arrived at the party, making a grand entrance in a noisy Tuk Tuk, we discovered that the invitation had said to wear a touch of red. We were surrounded by elegant red cocktail dresses, red floral skinny pants and Manolo Blahnik high heels. I wanted to crawl up and die. Thankfully, I got to wash the red paint off quite quickly so I didn’t look so ghastly.

The party was great fun anyway.
